The Honeywell Metrologic MS5145 Eclipse is one of the best value laser scanners in the world.  Originally designed and built by Metrologic, it was renamed when Honeywell bought Metrologic.  The Eclipse is priced to compete with readers that typically scan only a few mm away from a code, this barcode reader does this and more. Users prefer laser readers because of the speed and perceived accuracy- this scanner will be an ideal replacement for old fashioned CCD readers. 

The Eclipse doesn't have a stand, so it's not quite as convenient as it's bigger brothers, which scan from a longer distance and come with a handsfree stand.
